Henry Williams Ltd is a well-established manufacturing company based in Darlington.

It operates primarily in the Railways and Highways market sectors and has a Forge, Sheet Metal Fabrication and Electrical Projects Departments.

The Role

We are looking for someone to join our small team in our Machine Shop.

Your role includes duties associated with a Machine Operator and a Team Leader, including manufacture of machined items from various forgings and gas-cut-blanks.

Your duties will include:

  • Help co-ordinate machine shop operations to achieve agreed production targets
  • See material flows through the production processes and is stored in correct locations
  • Set, operate and inspect all machines within the machine shop
  • Maintain system documentation
  • Provide training for operators when required
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices
  • Willing to work overtime when required

Essential Skills

  • Time served manual machinist
  • Experience in a similar manufacturing environment
  • Experience of manual milling machines
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to read engineering drawings

Other Non-Essential Skills

  • CNC setting and operating
  • Continuous improvement mindset – 6s / lean methodology
