40 years of service

On December 8th Chris Bowes clocked up his 40th year of service with the company. He joined the Artwork Department at the age of 19 to complete his apprenticeship in engraving and silk-screening.

Since that time he has become the mainstay of our Domino signalling panel production department which not only produces new panels but also supports all of the traditional equipment that has been installed since the late 1950s. His knowledge of the local signalling specifications, colour schemes, and engineering preferences is invaluable to providing seamless upgrades to these panels.

In recent years Chris has introduced new processes as the manual engraving techniques of his youth have been superseded by laser engraving CADCAM production processes. This has not only made his department much more efficient but also enabled a wider range of mimic diagram and labelling systems to be introduced whilst still maintaining backwards compatibility with the installed customer base.
